A series of four podcasts encouraging people to consider the reasons they value being part of a faith community. We consider the modern and ancient cultural impediments to Christian churchgoers and the ways in which we continue to create barriers for the seeker. We also talk about the means of the common church life and the things that we do together on a week-to-week or day-to-day basis.
This course will begin by studying the makeup of the bible and the history of how we got the book we have today. We will talk about the translations and the importance of interpretation. Finally, we will chat about how we read the bible and how people have treated the bible differently across the ages.
In this series, we will be delving into a detailed study of the first five books of the Hebrew Scriptures, which are often referred to as the Torah or the Pentateuch. These books contain a wide range of Hebrew sagas and lore, which reveal a compassionate and faithful God, who intervenes on behalf of those who are marginalized. By exploring these texts, we will gain a fresh perspective on these stories and gain a deeper understanding of our own personal narratives.
